Braves News · Shawnee Athletic Update

Shawnee Families,

As everyone is aware, school will be closed through May 1st due to the COVID-19 public health threat.  Due to this situation, all athletics at Shawnee High School and Middle School are suspended during this time.  This includes Spring sports teams as well as out-of-season teams who had scheduled workouts. Coaches are not permitted to have any practices or workouts with their teams during this period of time, either on school grounds or off school grounds.  All facilities at Shawnee will be closed during this time period, this includes the gymnasium and outdoor facilities.

We will realize that this is a difficult time for everyone and will do everything we can to get through the situation.  We are still hopeful that we will be able to have spring sports in some manner this year. It will be imperative that we get back to school for this to happen.  I know that there are many questions about other items in the event we do not get back to playing this spring.  We are working on answers for everything and will have those if and when the time comes that it is decided we will not have spring sports.  We hope to provide updates on the situation in the upcoming weeks.

Please make sure that your kids are getting their distance learning work completed and submitted, as this could be a determining factor in their eligibility for Fall sports in 2020.  If you have any questions or are having difficulty getting your work please let us know.

We appreciate your understanding and support in dealing with the current public health threat.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Athletic Director Steve Tincher.
